I have an ASUS R900V notebook, MB version K95VM, which, after a BIOS update, shows a black screen and no longer boots; only the fan is running.
I got BIOS version 234 from https://www.asus.com/de/supportonly/r900vm/helpdesk_bios/

After the update failed, I read the memory contents of the EEPROM Winbond W25Q64VF and found the following lines: "EFI_SUCCESS K45VM.bin".
I then looked at the downloaded update, unpacked the zip file, and found the actual update named "K45VMAS.234". I was actually expecting something related to K95VM.
Somewhat confused, I then found this: https://www.asus.com/sg/supportonly/k45vm/helpdesk_bios/

I compared the files from R900VM and K45VM and found that there is no difference.

So what exactly does that mean?
1. The R900VM and K45VM notebooks are identical, and so is the BIOS?
2. ASUS accidentally applied the download links from the K45VM to the R900VM?

Now the question is, did I install the wrong update or did the update process simply fail for some other reason?

As far as I know, there's supposed to be a dump file on the original HDD, but unfortunately, I no longer have the original HDD. Does anyone have a known working BIOS dump for the R900VM?

Thank you in advance.

Wow this was fast. I will give it a try later that day. Hopefully it works.
Thank you.
